About Me

I am Sofia Perez, a current senior at Texas Tech University. I am a double major in political science and agricultural communication,s graduating in May 2026.
I am from Realitos and Houston, Texas. I grew up between my hometown and Houston, where I played sports and barrel raced. Throughout high school, I raised lambs and swine through FFA and was also a Texas FFA Ford Scholar. I graduated from high school with my diploma, along with my associate's degree in 2023.
In my time at Texas Tech, I have joined multiple organizations and worked for the university. I have been a member of the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and the Women in Pre-Law Society, and I currently serve as the social media coordinator of the Tech Cattlewomen. I have worked for the University Libraries in the department of communications and marketing for a full year, before moving to the department of development at the Texas Tech University College of Education.
In my 2 years at Texas Tech, I have also completed internships that have furthered my education outside of the classroom. Click to learn more about my work experiences and professional organizations.

I am currently enrolled in a program to obtain my paralegal certification through Penn Foster University, with an expected completion date of August 2025. I plan to work as a paralegal or legal assistant after graduating from Texas Tech University to further my understanding of the legal field and conduct research. After completing both of my bachelor's degrees and graduating, I am planning to attend law school in the Fall of 2026. I hope to find a law school that offers both a law review and an environmental law clinic, allowing me to be a part of both organizations. I am planning to become an environmental lawyer, preferably in the oil and gas industry. I am also currently completing a certification course to become a certified sexual assault counselor. I hope that one day my volunteer work will benefit from my J.D. and legal knowledge, and I can become a pro bono legal advocate for survivors.
